An old woman has three chickens: a red one, a white one and a black one. She feeds the chickens wheat and the chickens give her eggs in return. When her grandson visits her, she goes to fetch the eggs to fry some for him and discovers that the black chicken is missing and gets angry. Later, the boy finds the black chicken sitting on a clutch of eggs and the grandmother becomes happy because soon the eggs will hatch into chicks.

تروي البنت قصة دجاجات جدتها الثلاث: البيضاء والحمراء والسوداء. كانت الجدة تطعم دجاجاتها القمح والدجاجات تعطيها البيض بالمقابل. ذات يوم زارت البنت جدتها ولما ذهبت لإحضار البيض كي تقلي لها بعضًا منه، لم تجد الدجاجة السوداء فغضبت منها. بحثت البنت عن الدجاجة ووجدتها تحضن مجموعة من البيض، عندها فرحت الجدة بها لأنها ستصبح أمًا لصيصان جميلة.
