In this book, readers are introduced to two works produced at the beginning and the end of Thach Lam's short but stellar creative career: "The First Monsoon of the Season" and "Hanoi's Hashed Six Streets".

The illustrations in the publication are made by a talented contemporary Vietnamese painter Dao Hai Phong - who has developed his unique and recognisable style.  Hanoi appearing in Dao Hai Phong's paintings is both familiar and new. The artist's illustrations are in tune with Thach Lam's literature with its gentle elegance and sincere and earnest love for his homeland's landscape, people and values.
