This book is about the experience of a young Afghan boy, whose parents were killed by Taliban terrorists and who migrated to Iran, escaping war in Afghanistan.

For years, the Afghan people have been engaged in war, both with the invading forces and with internal backward forces of Taliban, killing and destroying cultural heritage (like Buddha statues in Bamyan). This story takes place in four places: Bamyan at a time when the Taliban were advancing from village to village, Kabul, which they had taken over, and the outskirts of Tehran and Shahriyar, and Varamin, where Afghan migrants are working in agricultural jobs mainly. The fourth setting where this story ends is the Afghan refugee camp near the Khorasan-Herat border.
This books main character, the young Afgan boy meets a former teacher in the refugee camp. The latter lost his wife and his only daughter in Kabul and was himself tortured by Taliban soldiers for teaching and writing. When the teacher meets the young Afgan refugee he decides to pick up the pen again and write down his story...
