Yulu is a young girl who loves to paint. She sees am artwork by a famous painter, after which her own canvas melts her every attempt at painting a self-portrait. She perservers painting one picture after another but never beats the canvas. Eventually the girl finally gets the canvas's approval and a beautiful self-portrait is created. This book conveys the struggles and perserverance towards mastering the art of painitng, through a metaphorical conflict between Yulu and her canvas.
